LE GRAND LÜTHI: Made to Move, Meant to Be Seen

Born from a dancer’s understanding of the body, French footwear label LE GRAND LÜTHI is building its visual language around movement, posture and the particular confidence of a very high heel.

For SS27, LE GRAND LÜTHI positions the heel beyond traditional gender codes. Designed as gender-fluid footwear and available in EU sizes 35 to 45, the collection opens the stiletto to a wider spectrum of bodies and identities, treating heels not as something inherently feminine, but as a question of silhouette, movement and personal expression.

The architecture of a heel

At the centre of the current offering is a sharply proportioned 12 cm stiletto. There is nothing particularly quiet about that height, yet LE GRAND LÜTHI avoids treating the heel simply as decoration.

Instead, structure becomes part of the aesthetic.

The silhouettes draw from familiar codes of classic elegance but are stripped towards something harder and more immediate. The tension lies between control and release, the discipline required to wear the shoe and the freedom associated with the person wearing it.

It makes sense considering where the idea began. Dance is as much about control as expression. The body learns the rules before finding ways to move beyond them.

LE GRAND LÜTHI translates something similar into footwear.

9:03 AM to 1:42 AM

The brand's Work Collection develops this idea across the rhythm of a day.

At 9:03 AM, the mood is precise. The beginning of the day is represented through posture, intention and structure. By 6:57 PM, that rigidity begins to loosen as professional and personal identities start to overlap. At 1:42 AM, instinct takes over.

It is a simple framework, but an effective one. Rather than proposing different versions of the wearer for work and after dark, LE GRAND LÜTHI follows the same person as their behaviour shifts. The shoe stays with them.

That continuity is central to the brand's proposition. These are not heels imagined exclusively for entrance moments or static photographs. According to the label, additional comfort padding has been introduced to cushion the fit, while pairs are supplied with replacement top lifts matched to the original colour, small functional decisions intended to extend how the shoes can actually be worn.

The Work Collection is also being produced in limited quantities, an approach the brand describes as measured and considered rather than built around constant volume.

Presence is the point

Fashion has spent years discussing comfort as though it must mean disappearing into clothing. LE GRAND LÜTHI proposes something almost opposite: a piece can demand awareness of the body while still being designed around the person moving in it.

Its motto, Made to move. Meant to be seen,” captures that balance neatly.

For a new label, the visual vocabulary already feels unusually specific. High heels, precise silhouettes and an undercurrent of performance establish the framework, but movement is what holds everything together. LE GRAND LÜTHI is interested in what happens after someone puts the shoe on.

How they stand.

How they move.

And, perhaps most importantly, how much space they decide to take.
