Fashion mogul Olivier Rousteing enlightens us on the Balmain x Victoria’s Secret collaboration.

It has been widely spoken about that Victoria’s Secret and Olivier Rousteing would be collaborating together for the 2017 show in Shanghai, but did we anticipate how trend hitting the collection would be? A world where girly girls would walk out grunge rockers. Creative director of Balmain created a spectacular capsule collection that has us all dreaming to be in our drawers. Launching in stores on December 6th, it is worth saving our pay check at the end of the month. From studs to checks, the angels helped the collaboration take off to its fullest expectations. Ahead of the unveiling, marked the first time the brand partnered up with a fashion house (EVER!!), especially on an in-store collection that we could get our hands on. And no… I’m not talking about the $2 million fantasy bra.

After years and many shows later, they finally saw what they should of done a while ago. Rousteing said “The Victoria’s Secret team have been invited to my Balmain shows many times, and I have also been a guest on the VS front row,” he said backstage. “A year ago they came to me and said, why don’t we do something together?”. The punk theme ran through this year's collection, which payed off for the collaboration as previous editorials and books have had many punk references in. If you haven’t checked out previous work from Balmain, you will always see a rock ‘n’ roll spin in the collections. A masterpiece that that puts the era of rock ‘n’ roll a statement one.

And what better way than to showcase your collection on beautiful leggy models? Those beautiful leggy models that are in his Balmain army. A gang of girls who religiously star in his campaigns. So… Where do I sign up to be in the gang? Stating on his thoughts on the Balmain army, he told VOGUE "They all come from different worlds, different backgrounds, different ethnicities and different agencies. Some have kids, some are new faces. I learn from every one of them.” We like to expect the unexpected, however it wouldn’t of been a Balmain show if there weren’t a feature of diamantes throughout. Romee Strijd got to strut her stuff down the catwalk in one of the best pieces from the collection, a Michael Jackson inspired jacket.
