BRABUS AB110: A New Language of Luxury at Sea

With the AB110, BRABUS leaves the road behind and translates its world of carbon fibre, performance and uncompromising presence into a 33.7-metre yacht created with AB Yachts. Luxury has always been partly about escape. From the ordinary, from limitation, sometimes simply from land.

For BRABUS, that escape has now become literal.

Presented at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, the BRABUS AB110 is the first yacht to carry the German house’s name. Developed together with Italian performance yacht builder AB Yachts, the 33.7-metre vessel takes a visual identity normally associated with modified supercars and stretches it across water, architecture and open space.

It would be easy to describe the result through numbers alone. There are three MTU engines. A combined 7,800 hp. A top speed of 48 knots. A cruising speed of 41 knots and a range of approximately 370 nautical miles at that pace.

Yet the AB110 is more interesting as an object than as a specification sheet.

Its proportions are long and deliberately low. Carbon fibre, normally encountered as a performance material measured in relatively small sections of a car, is allowed to become architectural. Exposed carbon forms the front wings, traces elements of the superstructure and wraps the twin stairways climbing towards the upper deck.

Above it sits perhaps the most unlikely translation of automotive design into naval architecture: an illuminated BRABUS roof spoiler. It should feel theatrical. It does. And that is perhaps precisely the point.

The Cockpit Leaves the Road

The connection to automotive design becomes clearest at the helm.

Navigation, vessel management and infotainment are concentrated into a controlled driving environment with a bespoke BRABUS steering wheel and a driver's seat finished in Masterpiece leather with the house's characteristic Triangle quilting. It is a small semantic distinction, but an interesting one.

BRABUS talks about the relationship between driver and yacht, rather than simply captain and vessel. That choice reveals much about the AB110. This is not an attempt to abandon the automotive world. It is an attempt to expand it.

Waterjet propulsion replaces tyres. The horizon replaces the road. But the emotional premise remains remarkably similar: control, immediacy and an engineered sense of power.

Luxury Without Restraint

There has long been a version of luxury defined by understatement, objects whose value is deliberately concealed. The BRABUS AB110 belongs to another tradition.

Its luxury is not intended to disappear. Carbon remains visible. The silhouette is dramatic. Performance is excessive enough to become part of the aesthetic itself. Even the red detailing seems designed to prevent the yacht from becoming anonymous against the Mediterranean. Yet there is something disciplined beneath that spectacle.

The collaboration works because AB Yachts already approaches yacht building through speed, lightweight construction and waterjet propulsion. BRABUS did not impose performance onto an otherwise conventional platform. It found a partner whose engineering philosophy was already sympathetic to its own.

The result therefore feels less like merchandise carrying a familiar badge and more like a genuine translation between two design cultures. BRABUS describes the AB110 as a reimagining of its performance legacy for the sea.

The more interesting word may be reimagined. Because the AB110 does not simply ask what a BRABUS yacht should look like. It asks what happens when an entire philosophy of speed, materiality and presence is allowed to become architecture.

And, surrounded by water, it suddenly has far more room to breathe.
