SACRED GROUND

Sacred Ground places football beside religion, not as metaphor alone but as a lived structure of ritual, loyalty and collective identity. The pitch, the church and a local working-class restaurant become connected spaces, each carrying its own codes of belonging.

Photographer and creative director Limor Ben-Romano works with stylist Liya Polonsky to move fashion through these everyday sites with colour, precision and play. Sportswear, tailored pieces and borrowed symbols sit easily together, while Polina Vingorodova and Garik shift between devotion, competition and deadpan performance.

The images resist turning football culture into spectacle from a distance. Instead, they stay close to its humour, posture and emotional charge. Sacred Ground asks what we worship, how communities make meaning and why a familiar uniform can hold the force of faith.

Sacred Ground is a fashion editorial photographed and directed by Limor Ben-Romano. Set across a football pitch, church and local restaurant, it explores football as culture, ritual, identity and working-class belief.
