Tonight in London: MORTEN Takes Future Rave Underground at Outernet Live.

There is something appropriately contradictory about bringing festival-scale electronic music underground.

Tonight, 19 September, Danish DJ and producer MORTEN takes over Outernet Live in central London, moving the cinematic pressure and oversized builds associated with his Future Rave sound into one of the city’s most immersive late-night spaces. The event runs from 11pm until 4am, with Raphi, Jeremiah and SLAVKO joining the line-up. It is an 18+ event, with physical photo ID required and last entry listed at 2am.

MORTEN’s particular corner of electronic music has always been designed for scale. Developed alongside David Guetta, Future Rave sits somewhere between the propulsion of house, darker electronic textures and the architecture of a mainstage record. His catalogue stretches from the Future Rave reworking of “Titanium” to “Hollow”, “Lucky” and “Locked In”, while recent live appearances have placed him across stages including Tomorrowland, Ultra, EDC and AMF.

Current Spotify catalogue includes the David Guetta collaboration “La Révolution”, alongside “Hollow”, “Lucky” and “Locked In”.

Tonight offers a slightly different frame for that sound. Outernet Live, sitting beneath the screens and movement of central London beside Tottenham Court Road, is an underground venue with a listed concert capacity of around 2,000. Outernet Rather than another open-air festival set, the London Takeover compresses MORTEN’s production into a room where the distance between DJ booth, sound system and crowd becomes considerably smaller.

For anyone tracing where large-scale electronic music moves once summer festival season begins to recede, this feels like the point of interest. The spectacle remains, but tonight it is being pushed below street level.
